For many of us with a DX of PTSD, we have come to the understanding that it is an identity disorder, more than an anxiety one. (This is at least true for me). Assuming a pathological distortion that can be treated or medicated to "normalcy," denies the fact that we experienced a radical transformation, one that was born in a punctured soul & moral trauma. We became a new person, in effect became "born again" in a most authentic (not religious) manner, as our older culturally conditioned selves died-off as being pathological and distorted. Needing validation for this extraordinary transformational process, has become the guide for our healing.

Brian;
I support all you say about the sanction and promulgation of illegal wars. and recognize their effects. My father had what was then called 'shell-shock' when he came home from WW II.

I have made much study of PTSD, from a lay perspective as I have found the psychiatric approach is often missing the point, which to me is, quite simply, -how do we heal?

My work with self, family and clients has led to designing a simple tool, which has given much relief to many. I have never had the opportunity to use it with anyone such as yourself and hope to do so one day.

Thank you for this opportunity to share.
