Introduction: The Trauma of Civilization
The human invention of urban "civilization" about 3500 BC (250-300 human generations ago) coincides with the advent of patterns of systematic violence previously unknown. The development of massive civil obedience to the vertical authority structures that ushered in civilization, originally in the form of kings, has witnessed a reported 14,500 major wars. This obedience has become a habit, generally void of any memory of the autonomous freedom of pre-urban civilization tribal groups.

Paid agents of the United States Government are recruiting young people to participate in behavior prohibited by U.S. law. These agents recruit in a manner that discriminates against people based on their sexual preference — i.e., against openly gay persons.
Thus, these agents, identified as U.S. military recruiters, are acting in an unlawful manner asking people to participate in unlawful activities.
Systematic use of terror and preventive war are historic U.S. American values. Their roots are directly and inextricably interconnected to the defense mechanism we call racism. Now is the time to experiment with building intentional community with other similarly seeking folks at a particular spot within a particular bioregion. Learning to live in a sustainable way within the context of the earth’s ecosystem is our task and joy now if we choose to evolve with dignity and sacredness.
