The Politics of Healing in the Context of Systemic Injustice

For some years I have been consciously participating in a difficult healing and integration process. A number of years ago I incurred multiple life threatening injuries as a result of an aggravated assault that occurred while I was participating in a nonviolent protest of the movement of lethal U.S. weapons destined to kill innocent civilians in El Salvador and Nicaragua. A Call for a Decentralist, Self-Reliant, Earth-Centered Revolution

We are in the midst of an extraordinary moment in history. The "democratic" capitalist model is touting itself as the victor over the socialist model at a time when careful examination reveals it is leading to cataclysmic collapse. Virtually everywhere one looks within the United States, one can see advanced deterioration, usually severe in consequences, of ecological, social, economic, and political health, despite the 1990s economic boom. The "New World Order" is simply a unipolar, Pax Americana version of the Old World Order.

A returning ancient consciousness rooted in understanding the sacred interconnectedness of all life, replacing our politically conditioned consciousness of greed, separation, and superiority, is capable of directing radically different choices in our lives.

On Friday, February 4, 1994, U.S. President Bill Clinton lifted the 30-year trade embargo on Vietnam. News reports revealed excited, jubilant Vietnamese, and eager, salivating U.S. businesses. Pepsi Cola was being served on the streets of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi cities within hours. News analysts smugly talked about the U.S. considering forgiving the Vietnamese.
